Assessment for learning (AfL) has been defined as:
'The process of seeking and interpreting evidence for use by learners and their teachers to decide where the learners are in their learning, where they need to go and how best to get there.

This training is suitable for both senior leaders and teaching staff and addresses the ‘Assessment for Learning’ model by looking at it from 4 different perspectives:

  • Assessment for learning: creating assessment opportunities
  • Assessment of learning: gathering information
  • Assessment as learning: filling in the gaps
  • Assessment Systems: storing information

By attending this training delegates will:

  • Develop a deeper understanding of the benefits of AfL
  • Know and understand how to create opportunities for assessment
  • Know how to collect, collate and present a range of information
  • Know how to back up quantitative information they have gathered with qualitative information
  • Know how to store and present information in a range of ways for a range of purposes
  • Know how to use all of the information to help adapt teaching and inform future planning
