Developing the Role of the Governing Body – Roles, Responsibilities and Rationale

Suitable for either consultancy or training, this short course can be delivered over half a day, a twilight, or for a meeting of the Governing Body. It is intended to help Governors and senior leaders to further develop the way they work together in monitoring and supporting the work of the school, with learning and achievement at the heart. It explains the roles and responsibilities of the Governing Body, with practical strategies for carrying these out. It looks at the cyclical nature of school development to illustrate the changing role of governors, and explores the expectations of the DfE and Ofsted.

There is an opportunity for full discussion on effective monitoring and support, and ways of being a critical friend through participation, challenge and celebrating success.
